General Election 2019 – Thank You!

Following the recent General Election, on the 12th December 2019, it’s an honour to have been re-elected as the MP for Amber Valley for the fourth time and I would like to thank everyone who supported and voted for me. To have been given the highest majority and vote share in the history of the seat is truly humbling. I will continue to work like I did in my first term with a majority of 532, putting the issues of this area first and never taking the voters of Amber Valley for granted. I was overwhelmed by the warm welcome I received on doorsteps during the election campaign and I am pleased to be able to continue to represent the views of Amber Valley in Westminster.

The message from the election is clear: the people of Amber Valley want us to get on and deliver the Brexit they voted for, and then move on to their other priorities. So, following the election, we’ve been back in Westminster to deliver on this Government’s promise to get Brexit done, by passing the second reading of the EU (Withdrawal Agreement) Bill to ratify the Prime Minister’s Brexit Deal, which means we can leave the EU on the 31st January 2020. Alongside delivering Brexit, last week the Queen’s Speech to open the new session of Parliament also outlined how this Government will maximise the opportunities of leaving the EU by taking back control of our money, laws and trade; ending free movement; investing in our NHS; supporting workers and families; strengthening our criminal justice system; improving our infrastructure; and preserving our environment.

I’m eager to catch up with local schools, businesses, charities and organisations to hear your priorities for, and views on, the future and Brexit. So, as always, if you would like to meet with me to discuss any concerns, or if you would like to speak to me at one of my regular surgeries in the new year, please contact me in the usual way, by replying to this email or ringing my office on 01773 744341.
